Chizoba Imoka

   Chizoba, fondly known as Chichi describes herself as passionate, driven and adventurous. Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Chi-Chi moved to Canada at the age of 16 to pursue a post secondary education in Economics.

Upon the completion of a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics at the University of Alberta in 2007, she began a career in the public sector with the Government of Alberta where she worked for two years in the Office of Traffic Safety on the Alberta Traffic Safety Plan in Research & Statistical Analysis Department.

In August 2010, Chi-Chi moved back home to launch the Unveiling Africa Foundation Nation Building Project for African Teenagers. In November 2010, Chizoba took up the role as Executive Director of Chris Ejik Group of Companies where she is spearheading the restructuring process of the company.

Amongst other community involvements in Edmonton, Chi-Chi is the founding member of Unveiling Africa foundation and a proud mentor and aunt to numerous Nigerian teenagers. Chizoba’s passion is deeply rooted in education, public service, international development, and youth leadership. As a hobby, Chi-Chi loves to dance, hang out with friends, cook and of course shop!

 

 Titi Sonuga

    She was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. At the age of 13, she immigrated to Canada with her family. She attended Mckernan Junior High School and Strathcona Composite High School in Edmonton, Alberta.

She went on to study Civil Engineering at the University of Alberta. Titi Sonuga is very active within the Edmonton community, and has been involved in several projects that are targeted at bettering her community.

She is also a spoken word poet, and joined with Rouge Lounge in Edmonton to create Rouge Poetry, a weekly spoken word night that features talented poets and musicians in the Edmonton area. She will also be competing at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word as part of the Calgary Slam Team.

She joined the Unveiling African Foundation in the summer of 2008, and with her Nigerian upbringing at the forefront of her mind, she continues to be involved in projects that serve to educate others.

 

 Ugochi Imoka

    A third year law undergraduate student at the University of Bristol; Ugochi is aspiring to practice as a corporate/commercial lawyer.

She also is passionate about inequality and the deficit of justice in our society. She aims to use her legal background to address these issues. She strongly believes in educating and empowering young people for a greater tomorrow.

Ugochi loves travelling and is currently learning to speak Hindi and French fluently.

 

 

 

Bunmi Otegbade: An African Change Agent

   Bunmi is an African Change Agent dedicated to harnessing the strength of Africa to lift her to a position of global leadership through social, economic and technical development.

By day, he works as a management consultant providing strategic advisory services to businesses in various industries across Africa.

In addition to his professional experience, Bunmi leads change at the helm of several non-profit initiatives.

He has founded an appropriate technology focused organization, runs an intricate network of service-oriented volunteers, and remains actively involved in diverse endeavors in the Africa transformation effort.

 

Misan Rewane

    Misan Rewane is a management and policy consultant, currently working with the Center for Public Policy Alternatives (CPPA), a Lagos-based policy think-tank and consultancy.

While at the CPPA, she has spearheaded the setting up of “The Scholarship Registry”, a scholarship administration enterprise dedicated to enhancing financial access to tertiary education for qualified Nigerians. Prior to this, she worked as a management consultant with

The Monitor Group in New York and London for 3 years, where she gained a broad experience advising governments, for-profit, and nonprofit clients in strategy and implementation. In 2010, Misan spent a 6-month sabbatical working as a volunteer consultant for TechnoServe’s Business Plan Competition in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, supporting promising Ivoirian entrepreneurs in establishing and/or expanding their businesses.

Among many interests, Misan is particularly passionate about finding innovative solutions to challenges within education and youth development. In 2006, she co-founded The IMPACT* Initiative, a non-profit organization focused on youth development that aims to maximize the individual’s capacity to contribute to society.

The initiative was born out of the realization that many Nigerian youth are ill-equipped to capitalize on academic and professional opportunities, and are therefore unable to achieve their potential. Since its inception, IMPACT’s annual youth forums and mentorship programs have helped over 1000 young people advance their knowledge and skills for academic achievement and career readiness.

Misan is a graduate of Stanford University, where she received a BA in Economics (Honours). She will be commencing her MBA at the Harvard Business School in August 2011. Since 2010, Misan has actively supported UVA in increasing access for their target demographic – teenagers – to exciting academic and extra-curricular opportunities that aid their development.
